Understanding Everything About Internet Safety

February 6, 2011/0 Comments/in Child Safety Online, Computer Security, Internet Safety /by admin

Whether you’ve just purchased a new computer for your family, looking for the right software for your business, or need to buy a PC so that your child can complete homework assignments, knowing about internet safety is very important.

There are many ways for unauthorized users to get access to your personal information if your computer is not protected, and you may also need to install special security tools that will keep your children safe when surfing the internet.

You Need To Teach Your Children About Internet Safety

When you’re teaching your children or coworkers about internet safety, you’ll need to be aware of internet safety laws.

The Children’s Online Privacy Protection act was put into place to help protect kids from internet predators online; this way, your child will not be able to give out his or her personal information online without your knowledge.

Software Will Help When You Talk About Internet Safety

There are also a number of protection tools that you can install on your computer so that your child will not be able to access certain sites without typing in a password. You’ll also need to teach your child about cyber-bullying, so that he or she will stay away from social networking sites that may make them victims of the bullying.

This trend is becoming very popular in middle schools and high schools, and could turn into a harassment situation for your child.

If You Already Know About Internet Safety Then Chat Rooms Should Be Blocked

Be sure to block chat rooms and forums from your child as well; these are some of the most common places for internet predators to visit, and they could get in touch with your child to find out your address and phone number.

You’ll also need to know more about internet safety if you are using software for your business; make sure that your employees are monitoring the rate at which financial information is being processed on the internet; this will help to keep your business’ account numbers out of the hands of people that are not authorized to have access to your account.

You can also have AVG Internet Security, PC Tools Internet Security, or Paretologic Anti-Virus Plus installed on your computer that will protect your appliance from viruses and spam that can slow the speed of your programs and damage your software.

If you notice any changes in your phone bill or electric bill after paying bills on the internet, you should purchase more advanced safety options for your computer.
