Understanding The Two Forms Of Adware

February 9, 2011/0 Comments/in Adware /by admin

Adware is one of those things that has developed a really bad name over the years, but isn’t definitively something to be afraid of.

Some people go though great lengths to avoid all aspects of its occurrence and throw fits whenever they come across it. Many take to the blogs and protest every site of it and despise it. Others welcome it for the most part, seeing it as a way to get the best things in life for, well free.

While there really are many types of Adware out there, the whole of it can best be boiled down to being in one of two categories. The first category includes the kind of adware that people really hate and frankly should hate. It’s the malicious kind that is completely unwanted, dangerous and generally unlawful.

The second kind is the type of adware that is delivered in an open and honest way. It’s the kind that many happily accept.

So What Are The Two Forms Of Adware

Adware is a type of software that delivers advertisements to a person’s computer screen. Sometimes the software is built into other applications and sometimes it exists in solitude.

The idea is that people can make money if they get you to click on and or buy a product or service as a result of clicking that advertisement.

As such, they deliver those advertisements directly onto your computer as much as they can. Again, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

How To Spot Malicious Adware

Malicious Adware is the kind that is completely unwanted. It can make its way to your computer via a number of channels and can result in advertisements popping up on your screen in seemingly inexplicable fashions. This is the kind of Adware that people do truly hate and really has no legitimate place in the software world.

For the most part, makers of this type of Adware are breaking or severely breaking various laws.

This type of advertising software can make it to your computer through seemingly legitimate means.

For instance, it’s often delivered as a part of another download that you willingly installed (freeware). The problem is that the adware portion of the software wasn’t clearly identified, if at all. In many situations these forms of Adware aren’t easy to uninstall as they don’t show up as a regular application.

Are Your Children Downloading Adware On To Your Computer – Find Out Now

Most every popular form of antivirus software on the market today offers some form of adware protection, whether it be included or sold as an extra. One of the reasons for this is that adware is often built part and parcel with spyware and other highly malicious software.

How To Identify Non Malicious Adware

This type of adware is designed to simply support what is otherwise free software. It is getting increasingly common. Software designers clearly identify that the ads will appear when you use their software. So far as anything can be seen as safe, there is little reason to worry about the existence of these ads.

Sometimes however, there are stipulations that the software will track information about you so as to deliver the most appropriate advertisements.
